Louisiana Progress Makes Major Leadership Changes
Louisiana Progress, a nonprofit, public policy-focused organization based in Baton Rouge, recently made major changes to its leadership team and staff, as it continues to expand its mission to advocate for poor and working-class Louisianans.
BATON ROUGE, LA | October 29, 2026–Louisiana Progress is excited to announce that, as of October 1, our team has undergone some exciting new changes. Dr. Angelle Bradford Rosenberg has been promoted from her previous role of Campaign Strategist to become our new Executive Director. Our long-time Executive Director, Peter Robins-Brown, will be staying on as a Strategic Advisor, while also shifting into his new, full-time job as Assistant to the President/Political & Legislative Director for the Louisiana AFL-CIO, under President Matt Wood. Elai Levinson, who spent nearly four years as a Louisiana Progress College Fellow and graduated from LSU this past spring, has also joined our team full-time as Policy & Operations Manager.
“There is no one better to continue to build on Louisiana Progress’s mission than Dr. Angelle Bradford Rosenberg,” said outgoing Executive Director Peter Robins-Brown. “Her two years working with the organization as a campaign strategist, along with her many years of valuable experience as a leader in Louisiana’s advocacy community, means she can hit the ground running on day one and take this organization to a whole new level.”
Born and raised in Baton Rouge, Dr. Bradford Rosenberg earned her bachelor's degree from the Ohio State University, then returned to Louisiana to earn a PhD in cardiovascular physiology from the Tulane School of Medicine. Since receiving her degree, Angelle has worked in the biomedical space while also leading Sierra Club’s Delta Chapter and the Louisiana chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, earning herself a sterling reputation as a fierce advocate for Louisiana’s families.
“Peter did so much for Louisiana Progress during his tenure as Executive Director,” said Dr. Angelle Bradford Rosenberg. “I’m so glad to have him sticking around in a support and advisory capacity as we begin this new chapter for the organization.”
As part of the transition, Elai Levinson was named Policy & Operations Manager, taking over the role that was previously held by Merrilee Montgomery, who left Louisiana Progress in June to pursue a career in the United States Coast Guard.
“These are big shoes to fill,” said Levinson. “Merillee set an incredibly high standard for this position, but she also provided me with the training and confidence I need to do the job.”
