Elections matter and voting counts—that’s why we launched our Voting Counts initiative two years ago on National Voter Registration Day, September 23, 2014. We launched Voting Counts to share important information and resources about Louisiana’s elections.

Every Louisianian who has the ability to vote carries with them the ability to alter our future. Some folks already recognize this. They are always registered, vote consistently, and understand their vital place in the democratic process. The rest of us slip up from time to time. We may feel jaded about the current state of our local, state, and federal governments and decide our vote is meaningless. We may be lazy and forget to register. We may struggle to get off of work in time to get to the polls or we may not be able to afford the time away from work at all.

But, here’s the thing. Voting is one of the most important things we can do. Who we elect determines the policies that shape our everyday lives. What we vote for can directly impact our friends, family, and neighbors. It’s our job to stay informed on the issues that matter to us most and to act accordingly. Which is why we want to make sure that you are registered and ready to cast your ballot.
